Tamlyn Butwell

Tamlyn Butwell is a Melbourne based singer/songwriter. An experienced and versatile performer on vocals, guitar, mandolin and bass, her solo work draws from her long time love of Australian and International Country Music, and her writing places her right in the Alt. Country scene.

Originally from rural NSW, Tamlyn was heavily inspired by the country music she was raised on, asking for a guitar after her first Beccy Cole concert! By the time she was accepted into the 2011 CMAA Junior Academy of Country Music, she was already a regular performer at local and regional community events and talent quests around NSW. In 2012 she supported Pete Denahy and Monroe’s Mill at their Cowra show, and has performed on bills with many local and emerging artists. During this period she also led the Western Swing band ‘Tami-Jade and The Boogie Men’, until her move to Sydney to study music production and audio engineering. Apart from successfully completing her degree and developing her own material, she also duetted with Sydney based producer/artist Michael Carpenter on his version of Springsteen’s “Tougher Than The Rest” for his covers album in 2016.

The move to Melbourne has seen her become a fixture in the local Alt.Country scene, as she prepares material for the upcoming recording of her debut solo releases. She continues to perform around Melbourne and Victorian regional areas, with more national touring planned.
